| Casting
thickness |
The
model 201 can cast from 5um to 200 um in dry green thickness.
Thinner casting has been done with special formulations. The model
201 can cast up to 10inches (254mm) on107.5 inch (267mm) plastic
film. |
| Casting
method |
Blade
over roll type casting method. Precision ground carbide casting
blade. Ground to customers specifications. |
| Dimensions |
227
cm long, 70.5 cm wide 110 cm in height. From floor to top of monitor
159 cm. |
| weight |
Less
than 500KG |
| Construction |
Stainless
steel welded frame. Stainless steel enclosure. Easy to clean up
slurry spills. |
| Safety |
Sources
of ignition isolated from casting chamber. Continuous flow of
fresh air through drying chamber. Casting section is capable of
being purged with dry nitrogen. |
| Air
Flow |
Two 140CFM
fans draw air through a HEPA filter. One fan provides intake
air while the other is used to exhaust air. Each fan is independently
controlled so the drying chamber can operate at a positive or
negative pressure. Negative pressure is used in a clean room
and positive pressure is used if the machine is not in a clean
room.

| Tape
Cleaning |
Each
side of the carrier film is rolled over a special "tacky"
roller to remove debris before entering the casting chamber. |
| Heaters |
Seven
sealed copper individually controlled electric heaters. Each is
50 cm in length by 28 cm wide. Temperature settings and tolerances
are set via the active matrix LCD touch screen. |
| Display |
800
X 600 active matrix LCD touch screen is used to operate all machine
functions. The proprietary "BUTTONS" operating system
is used to make data entry and machine control simple. Large 14
inch monitor on a swivel base allows machine operations to be
monitored at any angle and up to 15 feet away. All machine settings
and controls are accessed through the monitors integral touch
screen. |
| Computers |
Pentium
class CPU and multi microprocessor distributed control system. |
| Slurry
Feed |
Optional
slurry feed system uses variable speed peristaltic pump with optional
automatic slurry level control system. Also available with gravity
feed, syringe, or air pressure. |
| Tape
Transport |
Take
up reel is controlled by a servo motor through a oil filled planetary
gear reducer. Tape tension is maintained by a magnetic particle
brake. The tape tension is user variable from 5.4kg to 9kgs static
drag. |
| Speed
Control |
Constant
speed is maintained by sampling a constant diameter encoder roll.
This allows the computer to keep tape speed constant as the take-up
reel increases in diameter. Operator can control speed from 30mm
/ min to 7600mm / min. |
| Help
Screens |
All
screens have online help. Help screens are in English but can
be optionally translated to other languages. |
| Data
Storage |
Machine
setup information may be saved to floppy and retrieved at any
time. This makes multiple setups possible and easy recall of previous
data. |
| Tape
Steering |
The
Model 201 is equipped with a automatic tape steering system. This
ensures an even and straight rollup. |
| Film
Inspection |
An
optional fiber-optic panel is located between the 1st and 2nd
heated platens and acts like a mini light table to instantly show
streaks, pin holes and fisheyes that effect the quality of the
green tape. Early detection of casting problems reduces waste,
time and yield problems. |
